Tour by Rui Alves — a designer chair inspired by the drop handlebar

I’ve seen a lot of bicycle-inspired furniture in my time, some it even using recycled components, but nothing with the stylish simplicity of this chair by Portuguese product designer Rui Alves.

Inspired by the sweeping curves of the classic road bar, Tour is made out of bent wood and showcases the woodworking skills that Rui has inherited from his father and grandfather (both cabinet makers).

Also on his site are the similarly playful  ‘Vuelta’ side table and ‘Giro’ sun umbrella — and I could see all three of them sitting nicely in the corner of CycleLove HQ once I have saved up a few pennies.
