The numbers add up for the first Rapha Women’s 100

Womens cycling (or rather a lack of it) is a hot topic right now as a petition calls for female professional cycling teams to race the Tour de France. After 100 editions of the event, the world has moved on, and I would love to see the Tour follow suit.
A couple of weekends back Rapha orchestrated a very visible demonstration of the sport’s fast-growing popularity amongst women with their first #Womens100.
The concept was simply “to encourage as many female riders as possible to go out and bag 100 kilometres on the same day as the Etape du Tour, where a merry band of women cyclists, some new to the sport and some experienced, would ride the 130km from Annecy to Mt. Semnoz”, and judging by the numbers in the infographic above and the ride journals on the Rapha Womens blog, it was a huge success.
