Tom Donhou’s latest build is a stunning XCR road bike

Sometimes a bicycle looks almost too good to be ridden. Although in this case, I’d imagine there could be something immensely satisfying in washing the mud off its pearly white finish at the end of a wintery 100k through winding Essex countryside lanes.

Ah sorry, you caught me daydreaming. Back to reality…

Tom Donhou built this wee beauty for a lucky man called Chris:

We went with a 44mm head tube and oversized tubes to keep the bike nice and stiff for its size and finished it with a full set of stainless badges. With a no holds barred built kit of ENVE, Chris King and Dura Ace this is a really special road bike. Geometry wise, its fast and comfortable, short rear end coupled with a 27.2 post, nippy out of the saddle but a bit of give when you’re in it.

The real magic is the flash of fillet brazing around the seat cluster, aptly described as the “slit of the skirt” in the build description, and sure to be turning a head or two as it’s ridden around Suffolk by Chris.

If you’ve been hankering for a Donhou build but need something more affordable, keep your eyes on Tom’s website for news of his Signature Steel range.
